Jennie S. Honored at the Caregiver Tool Box Conference as a Family Caregiver

by admin

On Wednesday, June 16th, Jennie S.was honored for her dedication in caring for a neighbor and friend for fifteen years. I have been blessed with the good fortune to work with her friend and neighbor since Jennie was forced to retire due to her own failing health. I can tell you, such dedication and diligence for fifteen years (for free) is hard to come by. I was honored to recommend Jennie and than present her with a plague applauding her work as a caregiver who took her neighbor to her doctor appointments, picked up her groceries, helped her manage her medication, and all the other multiple responsibilities one takes on when we care for those who cannot care for themselves.

It was excellent timing for Jennie to receive this honor during the time her son was visiting her from out of town. I could see the smile of pride coming from his eyes; it does a heart good to see those moments we get to see from time to time in families.1112  Jennie, congratulations! I hope you enjoyed your special day and enjoy (for many years) the pride you must feel of a job well done as you look at the plaque that you were honored with.  Thank you Jennie; and thank you to the many caregivers of friends, family, and neighbors who do what they do because they can… and yes, they do it so very well….      Photo courtesy of Ora Lee of Comfort Keepers.

This is a great post. I don’t think that people realize how important caregiver’s roles are in the field of senior care and how important their mental health is in order to take the best care of their patients. Blogs like this really highlight and help that. Thank you!
